Okay, so I kill the witness, everything is fine and dandy. I was doing the mission where you rescue the pastor, killed the guy who was attacking him, someone 300 feet away sees it and decides I'm the bad guy. I was in CEX just before Christmas, they had 3 massive piles of second hand RDR2 games. The final nail in the coffin, is that Arthur Morgan is a soulless arsehole who hangs around with a gang of complete fuckwits who I would take great pleasure in wiping out with as much fire and explosives as I could find. Hunting legendary animals is not engaging or fun, feels more like a chore with no real reward, because I will undoubtedly be killed before I get my legendary pelt to the trapper. Without self improvement it's not an RPG, least to me. In fact it's all a complete mystery to me 15 hours in.

There's no clear path to upgrading or improving your character. The crafting and guns, none of it's really obvious.

The travelling is boring, every time I try to do something interesting along the way, somehow it ends up with 5 or 10 lawmen appearing out of literally nowhere, a 50 dollar bounty and me being killed.Д¬onversely, the mission based shootouts are ridiculously easy, with me being able to almost single handedly wipe out 20 or more enemies with my pistol. The last time this happened to me I was carrying the legendary bear pelt - which has now vanished. They're also deadly, by the time I've fumbled my way to shoot something I'm dead. I mean, 5 or 10 of them just appear out of nowhere in seconds. When I do something that I shouldn't, the law is never far away. The game is obsessed with my pistol, I am so fed up of having to go to my horse, Harold (short for Araldite) and equip my carbine repeater. The controls are so awkward, sometimes when firing multiple shots there will be an inconsistent and unpredictable delay before the next shot is fired. So after another 5 hours, here's what I think. so here we are, over the Christmas holidays, open mind and let's give it a chance. I thought, rather than getting rid I'll come back to it later.

The only reason I spent so long on it was because of posts online with promise that it would get better. I played RDR2 for about 10 hours at launch, and hated it. I know this is an old thread, but it seems that it still has some life in it, so I'll add my opinion in here too. This game seems like you'd have to watch a fucking two-hour cutscene marathon to get to a point where you can enjoy any freedom. The last game was perfect for running around exploring and just generally causing mayhem and having a good time. If I wanted some shit to be extremely frustrating and difficult to accomplish, I've got real life for that. Sorry, but I play games for fun and to relieve stress, not to brag to game nerds about how challenging something was. What a waste of time and money this game has turned out to be. I quit during the deer hunting bullshit and shelved the game and ridiculous $40+ gaming guide I shelled out for (having immensely enjoyed the last game) and seriously doubt I'll be playing it again this year. The whole 'go to your horse for every fucking weapon change' mechanic is extremely annoying, too. When the 'sense of realism' is more important than the game's fun factor and playability, you've done something wrong. Everything is SO difficult to do - from walking without going at the speed of a crippled snail, to avoiding getting stuck running or walking into things slightly, whether on foot or horseback, to aiming and firing your guns, to using that fucking worthless bow and arrow during the forced deer hunting mission. This game is all graphics, too much forced gameplay, too much story I'm not interested in (about Dutch and his gang of assholes) and NO decent controls. Kept getting disappointed when they'd push it back.
